TermMax is approaching its biggest token milestone yet. The protocol has announced the TMX Token Generation Event for August 25, 2026, bringing a native governance and utility asset to a DeFi platform built around fixed-rate lending, borrowing, and leveraged strategies.

The TGE arrives after a rapid expansion period for TermMax across multiple EVM networks, tokenized-asset markets, options infrastructure, and institutional fixed-term financing.   1. A market is created with a specific maturity. The market defines the debt asset, collateral, expiration date, and pricing curve.

  3. Borrowers open collateralized debt positions. They lock collateral and receive liquidity while accepting a known repayment obligation.

  5. At maturity, positions settle. Fixed-Rate Tokens can be redeemed according to the market’s debt-token settlement mechanics.

This structure separates the loan into pieces that can be traded rather than leaving users with a single non-transferable lending position. The result is a fixed-term market where rates can move for new traders while the economics of an already executed position remain defined.

What Are Fixed-Rate Tokens (FT)?

Fixed-Rate Tokens, or FT, represent the lender side of a TermMax position and work similarly to an onchain zero-coupon bond.

An FT is typically purchased for less than the amount it can redeem for at maturity. That discount encodes the fixed yield. If a token redeemable for 100 units at maturity trades for 95 today, the 5-unit difference represents the return earned by holding it through the term, subject to protocol and credit risks.

Because FT is tokenized, users are not necessarily locked into holding until maturity. The position can potentially be traded before expiration, allowing the market price to reflect changes in demand, remaining time, and prevailing yields.

The key distinction from floating-rate lending is that the lender’s return is embedded in the price paid for the FT rather than continuously recalculated from a changing utilization rate.

Gearing Tokens, or GT, represent the collateralized borrowing side of TermMax and package a leveraged debt position into a transferable token.

TermPrime is the institutional version of TermMax, designed for fixed-rate, fixed-term financing between verified counterparties.

The venue went live on Canton Network, where TermMax also operates infrastructure, and targets participants that require KYB, privacy, defined counterparties, and predictable financing terms rather than open retail DeFi pools.

Its first reported transaction was a seven-day loan between two KYB-verified counterparties using CBTC as collateral and Canton Coin as the borrowed asset. The loan was repaid before maturity.
